If you're creating designs on the computer and are not sure whether to use Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop, we suggest you use Adobe Illustrator because it is a vector based drawing program. Vector based drawings are better than pixels, because they are created using a mathematical formula on the back end, so you can resize them as many times as you want without any distortion. Adobe Photoshop uses pixels which are tiny squares with different color fills, therefore when you resize them the pixels are a fixed size so the image gets blurry or 'pixelated.' One limitation with Adobe Illustrator is that they don't handle photos as well as photoshop, so if your designs contains a photo you might want to use photoshop.
If your combining digital drawings and photographs, we suggest you use a combination of both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. In order to do that you can draw your design in Illustrator and export it as a PSD file (file type for Photoshop) then import your photograph in Photoshop and add it to your design.
*How to export Adobe Illustrator to PSD File:
Go to File> Export > In drop down format menu select 'Photoshop (PSD)'
*Tip when saving as a PSD be sure to have under "Options" you check "Write Layers" & "Preserve Text Editability" & "Maximum Editability" - This will allow you to have different layers of your A.I. drawing instead of one flat image, then you can edit each piece separately in Photoshop.
